POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Program Manager, AL for Education will serve as the Education Sector Lead within ACN, overseeing the education sector community - helping young Africans explore, enter, and thrive in impactful education careers. The Program Manager will build and manage employer partnerships, oversee job and internship placements, and strengthen the AL for Education community within ACN. This role blends strategic partnership-building, program management, and network engagement.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Employer Partnerships & Placements:

  • Work with the Director to build and maintain a strong network of education employer partners across Africa.
  • Oversee employer outreach (leveraging ALA colleagues and champions) and manage the recruitment pipeline.
  • Secure internships, jobs, and other opportunities to consistently meet placement targets.
  • Promote opportunities to the alumni/scholar network, manage application processes, screen candidates, and facilitate placements.
  • Oversee CRM data and reporting, ensuring Salesforce is updated with placements, partnerships, and engagement records.

Program Management:

  • Deliver career readiness and sector programs such as the Apprenticeship Program and Sector Challenge, with support from the Program Associate.
  • Foster scholar and alumni interest in education by curating workshops, webinars, and speaker series that highlight diverse career paths.
  • Collaborating with other sector leads to sharing best practices and aligning with ACN’s overall strategy.
  • Design and facilitate programs to ensure relevance, quality, and impact.
Network Engagement & Communications:
  • Manage the AL for Education community on the ACN app, curating resources, tools, and opportunities for members.
  • Lead or support regional in-person events and virtual convenings for Scholars, alumni, employer partners, and other stakeholders.
  • Work with the communications lead to strengthen AL for Education’s brand across ACN and ALA alumni networks through communications, storytelling, and thought leadership.
  • Support advisory boards, sector councils, and other external stakeholder groups as needed.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS AND SELECTION CRITERIA

Required Education and Experience: 
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in education, workforce development, career services, or related fields
  • 2-3 years of managerial experience
  • Entrepreneurial relationship-builder with persistence, grit, and strong partnership development skills
  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) preferred; strong candidates with substantial, demonstrated experience in relevant fields are equally encouraged to apply

  • Existing network in the African education sector preferred.
